Pott 33 modern silverware with its 5 prong fork was celebrated in the trade as a sensational innovation. In this design Carl Pott was concerned to produce a practical widening of the fork shank. This facilitates use for sauces vegetables (peas don't fall off so easily). Food lies altogether better in this fork. The number of prongs had to be increased so that it wasn't necessary to clumsily widen the individual prongs, or to make the gaps between them so wide as to be counter productive. The clean lines of the Pott 33 cutlery design are particularly enhanced by the fine horizontal slit at the end of the handles, the small narrow stroke at the end of the handle which in no way disturbs the smooth, clear, geometric form. Model 33 is one of Carl Pott's great successes an enduring favorite that can boast numerous awards. It has been incorporated into the collections of all the Industrial Art Museums in Germany. A distinction to be made about Pott silverware is in the knives which all have an invisible serrated edge that is very sharp for cutting meats yet barely visible so as not to distract from their design. Still made of high quality 925 sterling silver in Germany in the Mettmann factory, the pott sterling silver flatware is a high-end cutlery following a family tradition of skilled machining and hand polishing that spans several generations.
