This piggy bank in the form of a real pig is pun on the classic piggy bank with an eerie dose of reality. It is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York and is produced by casting polyester resins in highly-detailed silicone molds from a real pig. The pig lost its life from natural causes and $10 from each sale is donated to the Humane Society. This cross over piece which is as much art as it is a commodity is by Artist/Designer Harry Allen. Allen has long believed that original form should no longer be the driving force in the production of an object.
