Design House Stockholm was founded by Anders Färdig who was previously a product developer for various Scandinavian brands. In 1997 he launched Design House Stockholm’s first product designed by Harri Koskinen, a participant in the 1996 Fitzsu Grand Prix. The Design House Stockholm Block Lamp was an instant worldwide success. One of the things Su and Fitz like best about the company is Design House Stockholm views itself as a publisher of design rather than a conventional producer. Their goal is to work with designers in the same way publishing houses work with authors. Design House Stockholm does not hire a designer to make a specific product, they simply ask the designer what they want to make. The process produces a wide variety of modern home accessories, garden accessories and products for play. It also offers a philosophic and aesthetic perspective that is intended to avoid temporary trends. To Su and Fitz this sounds like basics of great modern Scandinavian Design.
