Popping the question like Fitz & Su is a routine adventure at Fitzsu. Before they opened their store, before they moved to LA, Su & Fitz lived in sin. They had done so for 6 years and their life had its routines. Meeting at home after work, Su mentioned she did not feel like cooking, Fitz said no problem, and asked if Su had a taste for anything in particular. She replied: "Streak Frites." Grabbing his coat Fitz said "Perfect, I drive" and they jumped into the car. On the way they discussed each of their days. Soon Su realized they were not heading to their usual place, but to the airport, she asked "Where are we going?" Fitz simply said he thought they would try something different. Su said "OK" after all Fitz and Su's definition of routine is a little different and Su is always up for an adventure. Moments later they were boarding an international flight to .................... to be continued. The Air France flight landed at Charles de Galle. At the customs desk the French Official asked Su, “What is the purpose of your trip?” Su casually replied, “Dinner”. Un-amused, the Frenchman turned his attention to Fitz and bluntly demanded, “You did not seriously travel all this way for one meal. Tell me, what is your purpose here?" Fitz could only smile and say “I came to ask a question.” Angry now, the Agent spoke very loudly “Business or Pleasure!” Fitz smiled, Su winked, and looking into Fitz’s eyes she answered. “Je crois qu'il va proposer marriage.” The only sound heard was the ker-plunk, ker-plunk of stamped passports. Soon the two were running full speed towards the City of Lights, ………to be continued. Su and Fitz had both lived in Paris so they spent the day sharing stories and locations not yet known to the other. By nightfall they stood in St-Germain-des-Pres across the street from Café de Flore and Café Les Deux Magots and, like so many Existentialists before them, they faced the question of where to have dinner. Fitz suggested a flip of the coin. Su solved the problem, by saying, "Both." They took the long way home to savor every moment. This led them into the Old Red Light District. It was like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. They needed a room; in their quick departure no arrangements had been made. Su picked the seediest one, Fitz paid cash in advance and they registered under F. Scott and Zelda. No questions had been asked and no answers had been given, there was less night left than the energy the two still possessed, everything would be settled by the dawn. If you ask Fitz where he proposed to Su, he will tell you The Hotel Cigne. If you ask Su the same question, she will tell you with a wink "On top." |
