The iittala Aarne modern glassware designed by Göran Hongell won the gold metal in 1954 at the Triennale in Milan. Hongell, a decorative artist glass blower was one of the pioneers of the Finnish glass tradition. His famed iittala Aarne creation also set the trend for the essential glassware set in the 1950s, a trend that remains to this day. In the iittala Aarne glass barware line are all the essential glasses, designed to be in one room together, for a cocktail or dinner party: cordial, cocktail, juice, wine, water, old fashion, double old fashion, high ball, beer and champagne flute.
