In House/News Melrose Place In the 1980's, Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles was the center for all things punk. Some 20 years later the street is decidedly less cutting-edge with shops full of nasty knock-offs and street wear. But times are changing for the better; just down the street from all those cheapies and just past the Costume National and Miu Miu stores, is the latest in a wave of design-conscious shops. Fitzsu Society, owned by Su Sazama and her partner Fitz, is a great place to pick up design items by Wallpaper* favourites such as Marc Newson and Theo Williams. Fitzsu has the exclusive on Renata Manau's amoeba-shaped bathroom tiles and tableware; it carries German jewellery designer DAU'S gold, stainless and titanium rings and bracelets, as well as ALLOY-designed housewares. Drop in and have a cup of espresso brewed for you while you shop for the perfect addition to your life. | | |
