Fitzsu hosted its first ever charity design auction - the Fitzsu Grand Prix - on Thursday, October 19, 2006 in Los Angeles. A crowd of over 200 people gathered to view the exhibition of uniquely designed cars and bid for them online. Selling their modern design products online since 2001 Fitz and Su were fully aware of the power of the web and by partnering with Ebay’s Giving Works program Fitzsu opened the chance for collectors around the world to participate and acquire the one of a kind works. By donating their creativity, time and materials 34 international designers helped the Fitzsu Grand Prix raise over $20,000.00 for the World Childhood Foundation an international organization whose mission it is to defend the rights of every child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world. One of Fitzsu goals has been to expose customers to functional design by hosting events that are out of the ordinary and meant to inspire creativity. The Fitzsu Grand Prix chose the Playsam Streamliner car because of its pure modern form that captures the essence of the Los Angeles’s youthful obsession with the automobile. Fitz and Su designed and created a limited edition of 55 original Fitzsu Grand Pace Cars available to purchase online or in any of the Fitzsu retail locations for $125. A full color 20 page catalog designed by Group 22 featuring the participating designers their work and history was produced in a run of 500 and sold for $20. Both the Fitzsu Pace cars and the Grand Prix catalog sold out quickly. Individual one of a kind Fitzsu Grand Prix cars were created by Alfredo Haererli, Ben Grider, Bjorn Dahlstrom, Cory Grosser, James Marshall (Dalek), David Hundley, David Levinthal, Eva Eisler, James Irvine, Jangir Maddadi, Jonas Lindstom, Karim Rashid, Khodi Feiz, Konstantin Grcic, Mark Mothersbaugh, Michael Graves, Mikaela Dorfel, Nader Tehrani, Ole Jensen, Peter Raacke, Reza Feiz, Richard Colman, Richard Holbrook, Richard Meier, Sami Hayek, Scott Henderson, Sebastian Knorr, Syd Mead, Tahmineh Javanbakht, Tarina Tarantino, Tim Biskup, Touma, Viktor Shreckengost, and Yves Behar.
