Alessi Coffee Pot 1 Cup
Item Num : ales101-15

Alessi Coffee Pot 101/100 - made of 18/10 stainless steel. The 101 coffee pot from programme 5 was first produced in 1956, and ever since it has been one of the most well-established products in the Alessi catalogue. It is fascinating to see how the shape of the coffee pot gradually developed over the years as improvements were made to performance and manufacturing techniques. The pictures show how the lid, the spout, the handle and base have developed. The original model was produced until 1961 when it was replaced with a new version with various changes. The lid of the new version opened up to 180 degrees, rather than just 130 degrees in the original model, thanks to original model, thanks to the fact that the handle was fixed lower down on the pot. The spout was made of a single piece, though it was still soldered to the pot, while the new version of the handle was made from drawplate metal, with rounded edges, rather than the earlier sharper edges. In 1963, the handle was welded electrically instead of soldered with silver, and the strength afforded by this new system meant that the lower weld between handle and pot could be eliminated, thereby reducing heat transmission to the handle. In 1968 the lid was lengthened to cover part of the spout, and the knob also changed its shape. In addition a model with a higher base was also put into production, at the request of Alitalia. Finally, in 1972 the latest version came into being. The lid now fits into the rim of the pot to prevent condensation water from running down the outside of the pot. The spout has become an integral part of the pot (an exceptional technical feat), and the end of the spout has become more arched to ensure a better pouring without drips. Lastly the hinge has been enlarged to make it more robust.
