Alessi Bombe Sugar Bowl - made of silver-plated brass between 1946 and 1959, and chrome-plated brass between 1946 and 1965, it has been produced in stainless steel since 1965 (with a break between 1973 and 1983), and in E.P.S.S. since 1983. The Bombe is still today the most successful teas and coffee set sold by Alessi, and it was Carlo Alessi's (Gravellona 1916) last design. he trained as an industrial designer at Novara, and joined the factory at a very early age. He was the man behind most of the designs that became part of our catalogues in the 30's and 40's. The Bombe is emblematic of the company's development from being a craftsman-based enterprise (using lathes) to an industrial concern (using presses).
