Aino Aalto |
|
Aino Aalto (1894-1949) was born in Finland. She got a job at Alvar Aalto's architecture office; they got married and started a lifelong partnership. In 1932, Alvar Aalto, on his way to international fame, lost a design competition to his wife, Aino. Her winning entry, the 'Aina Aalto glasses', also won the gold medal at the Triennale in Milan in 1936. Aino Aalto's glasses are designed to be used. The form is so timeless that the glasses continue to be a part of our lives even today. |
