Two design enthusiasts and owners of Fitzsu Society, a Los Angeles based modern tabletop & home accessories store decided to take the PLAYSAM Streamliner and invite their favorite designers from around the world, crossing over industries, to create their own interpretation of the original toy car. Michael Graves, Konstantin Grcic, Richard Meier & Yves Behar are among the over 33 designers who have signed on to participate in the FitzsuGrandPrix an event on October 19, 2006 where the finished one-of-a-kind wooden toys will be auctioned off to benefit the World Childhood Foundation. Fitz and Su chose cars, because they are so important to the Los Angeles culture. Nowhere in the world is the car more celebrated than in Los Angeles. It is said that there are more Porsches in Los Angeles than the rest of the world combined. The PLAYSAM car is a simple and pure design that possess the gesture of the automobile like no other. The interpretation of this shape by some of the world most influential designers is an exhilarating concept that is sure to lead to an amazing event.
